A BOX OF DREAMS
A Collection of Short Stories

By Denis Bell

Illustrations by Louise Freshman Brown

Denis Bell's stories are short only in length; in insight, vision, humor and style they have a farseeing distance and depth that will keep you wedded to the page, either laughing, marveling, or scratching your head.”
- David L. Robbins, author of War of the Rats

“A thought-provoking collection of flashes and longer stories: poignant, strange, humorous and humane. A Box of Dreams should be opened by all.”
- Peter Blair and Ashley Chantler, Editors of Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine

“The author’s wit and the sense of humor is obvious and there are quite a few scenes that will bring smile to the reader’s face and make a pleasant read. Life dilemmas that the characters in his stories are facing are real and believable. While I am really impressed with A Box of Dreams, I am even more fascinated with the potential that Mr. Bell’s fictional world has for the creation of future adventures, maybe even a whole series of books. With the writing skills that Denis Bell displayed in this collection of short stories, it is quite possible to become a great success.”
- Stevan V. Nikolic, Editor of the Adelaide Literary Magazine

“Denis Bell has a subtle hand and a crafter’s light touch; he’s able to tickle the bizarre from the familiarities of reality so smoothly that you are forced to look twice.”
Nancy Stohlman, author of The Vixen Scream and Other Bible Stories

"You’ll find a number of gems in Denis Bell’s first collection of stories, “A Box of Dreams.” The selections, though comfortably brief, are disturbingly bright, and their buffed shine holds up after repeated readings.”
Bob Thurber, author of Nothing But Trouble and Paperboy: A Dysfunctional Novel

Denis Bell is a professor of Mathematics at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. He grew up in London, England and studied at the Universities of Manchester and Warwick, where he obtained a master’s degree in statistics and a doctorate in mathematics.
