ADELAIDE BOOKS LLC
AT THE FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR 2018

The Official Report

The Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, took place from Wednesday, October 10, to Sunday, October 14, 2018. The organizers welcomed 7309 exhibitors from 102 countries and 286425 visitors from 137 countries.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest international trade fair for books and magazines. This annual fair was founded in 1949 and is open to trade visitors only, except for the last two days of the fair when the access of the general public is allowed.

Adelaide Books LLC took part in this year’s Fair as an exhibitor with its own booth display on the ground floor of the Hall 6 which mostly housed publishers, distributors, and literary agencies from the United States, Canada, Japan, and Israel. United States was one of the largest exhibitors’ groups with over 400 participating publishers.

This year’s Frankfurt Fair was very successful for Adelaide Books. We presented to foreign literary agents and publishers 44 of our already released  and 79 of upcoming titles. Our publishing list received much attention and compliments during the five days of the Fair, which all resulted in 16 of our titles being taken by foreign literary agents and publishers for consideration for publishing. We will send detailed individual notifications  to the authors of the works selected.  The titles that got most of the attention were following:

Acquiring publishing rights at the Frankfurt Book Fair is usually a “two-way street.” Adelaide Books acquired  publishing rights for three novels and two collection of short stories by a renown author from Switzerland, an inspirational book and two collections of poetry by authors from Israel, and we are still considering works by authors from South Africa, UK, and Brazil. All in all, we expect to add another twelve titles to our already rich list.
