WHISTLING PAST THE VEIL by A. Elizabeth Herting

Death. Mysterious and terrifying, exhilarating and heartbreaking. Is it the irrevocable end of our existence or a tantalyzing new beginning? Dying is the one thing we all have in common, it is the true "final frontier."

All of the stories in "Whistling Past the Veil" have previously been published and each one deals in some way with death, dying or the supernatural. From a Shakespearean deathbed to the very gates of doggie heaven and musical hell, the stories in "Whistling Past the Veil" include horror, fantasy, love, hauntings, revenge and real-life inspirational tales all connected to the ultimate eventuality and mystery of death.

A. Elizabeth Herting  has had short fiction stories featured in many different publications, including podcasts, reprints and poetry. She also has experience with non-fiction and as an online copywriter.

When not writing or driving kids around, she is also a member of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide women's singing organization. She sings and competes as a Lead in a ladies barbershop quartet called Deja Vu, voted “Audience Choice/Open Division” in their regional competition for 2015, 2016 and 2018; Skyline Chorus, an International award winning group of 140 singers in Denver, Colorado; and Bella Voce, a regional first-place medaling small chorus based out of Craig, Colorado. She has been singing and performing all over the great state of Colorado (and beyond!) since 2002 and also helps to create shows and scripts as part of a writing team for those wonderful musical groups.

A. Elizabeth was proud to be selected as a Finalist in the “Adelaide Literary Award, 2018 Short Story Anthology.” Her story “Sourdough’s Cabin” was chosen as “Readers Choice” in the November 2017 edition of “Frontier Tales” for a future anthology. She has also had stories featured in short story anthologies: “Write to Meow,” “Weird Reader 2017 Edition” and “Ghostlight, the Magazine of Terror.”
A second collection of short stories called “Postcards From Waupaca” will be published by “Adelaide Books” in 2020. A. Elizabeth has also completed her first novel called “Wet Birds Don't Fly at Night” that she eventually hopes to find a home for.  https://aeherting.weebly.com, twitter.com/AEHerting, facebook.com/AElizabethHerting
