A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

When 2021 came, we all hoped that it would mark the end of the Covid Pandemic and return to doing business as normal. But as it passed, we all realized how wrong we were, while entering a new year with the latest variant of Covid, and cancelations of the major live events, not only in the US, but worldwide.

Pandemic greatly affected our publishing with delays in book releases, disruptions in marketing, distribution, sales, and deliveries. Nevertheless, in 2021, we managed to publish 89 new titles and took part in five big events promoting our titles to a trade and the general public.

It started with PUBLISHERS WEEKLY US BOOK SHOW, from May 25 to 27, a virtual event organized by Publishers Weekly to offset  a previously canceled and discontinued BOOK EXPO. Although, completely virtual, this event managed to attract a large number of trade visitors who were offered zoom conferences with authors, advance readers copies, and meeting with publishers. Our stand was well attended, we gave away many ARC’s, and had a half-page ad in the Publishers Weekly advertising our books.

The very first live event in 2021 was NEW YORK CITY POETRY FESTIVAL, July 24 and 25, where on July 24th at 2:00PM, Adelaide Books authors were presenting their new poetry collections and reading their poetry.

The month of August was marked by our participation at the Lisbon Book Fair from August 26 to September 13, and the launch of several titles by Adelaide Books Portugal.

That was followed by the Brooklyn Book Festival in New York,  September 26 to October 4, where we organized two events in the KGB New York during the Festival, and had our booth both during the Children Book Day (Oct. 02) and at the Book Marketplace, where several of our authors took part with book signings.

The end of October took us to Frankfurt where we were one of very few US exhibitors at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Although, due to Covid traveling restrictions, much smaller in size, 2021 Frankfurt Book Fair was very successful event for Adelaide Books, with numerous projects contracted and started through our interactions with foreign publishers and literary agents.

As we are entering a new year, we plan to participate in all these events again in 2022, and hopefully take part in many more for the benefit of our authors and the books we publish.
