Blue Nights

Hands wildly flailing around
While I am sinking in the vast ocean
Of endless emotions and feelings
That otherwise remain unnamed,
Inexpressible, but dormant, somewhere inside.
Silent screams have become too loud
Even though I am the only one that can hear,
Those sounds that I wish would die away soon.

The face is a mask of pretend joy
But the smile gives way to the act
For it never reaches the eyes,
Which remain cold, expressionless.
Although, once a blue moon, they will flicker
With hope and promise, a light of life will come alive,
Every fortnight.

Journey of Self

Small feet grew bigger with time.
Here they go, out the door too soon.

Long, slender arms tremble
Every time they brush past new beginnings.

Bittersweet memories flood her mind
Of love, surrounded by comfort all around.

Unfamiliar faces encircle her in
Smiles on every face and yet no warmth.

Emptiness awaits her arrival every night
The moon is the only constant that she can find.

The distance between her and the seven seas closes
But she is still far away from herself.

Years have come and gone
She is still the same, overwhelmed with the days.

Although her heart burns with desire for a fresh start,
Her limbs are weakened by the monotony.

A constant struggle between the soul and the body
Leaves the questions hanging, without an answer.

A gush of wind forces her out of her life
Baffled by the unexpected, her eyes well up with tears.

Fear fills her heart once more
Forced back home that is home no more.

She had to kill the consistency
To give life to her days.

The sun rose every morning with a different shade
And so did she shine brighter in the new light.
