Boris Kokotov was born in Moscow, in 1946. He is a poet and translator, the author of several poetry collections in the Russian language; the most recent, The Selected Work (Izbrannoe), was published in 2020 (Steklograph, Moscow). His poems appeared in periodicals and almanacs in Russia, USA, Germany, Australia, and Israel. His translations from German romantics into Russian were published in the anthology The Century of Translation, Moscow, 2012. His most important translations from English into Russian include Louise Glück's The Wild Iris (Vodoley, Moscow, 2012) and Billy Collins' Ballistics (Vodoley, Moscow, 2021).

Boris Kokotov moved to USA in 1991. In 2009 in collaboration with well-known artist Izya Shlosberg they published an ekphrastic book Transcending Images. Since 2013 his original work in English and translations of modern Russian poets into English appeared in Adelaide, Blackbird, Chiron Review, Constellations, Poet Lore, and Washington Square Review, among others. Boris Kokotov currently lives in Baltimore.
