THE STAR

POETRY
A Peck
By all means
Let my journey begins
With a peck,
On the right cheek
On the left cheek
On the upper lip
On the bottom lip
On both—
When both lips meet
Soft and sweet
Ah that peachy pink—
Stop! Don't think,
Taste the flavour
Then continue
The endeavour
With a new
Peck to pick,
On the side
Of the neck
With a kiss
Say less
Side to side
One to the left
One to the right
The path is clear
Forming a line
Like a pier
I cannot miss
Nor can I hide
What starts to melt
Inside
Once I felt
The beats
Of your heart
The warmth
Of your skin
Splitting me apart
Calling me in
The Star
In a quiet cloudless night
I saw a star with a gleaming light,
I shouted to the star: '' what shall I do?
Shall I hold it or shall I let it go? ''
After a brief moment of silence it said:
(While its wonderful glow was well spread)
''Listen, you are not asking the right question,
A wrong answer for a wrong question;
Listen, she made you talk to me from that far,
She made you look for an answer from a star.
You are ultimately taken by her,
You will never be able to let her go, sir! ''
Youssef Oubihi is a poet and a master student of Studies in Literary and Cultural Encounters at Sultan Moulay Slimane University in Beni-Mellal, Morocco. He grew up in the Souss region, where he breathed, imbibed and absorbed poetry from its magic air, sea, and land. His philosophy of poetry can be put thus: poetry for those who can taste its flavours is more than a way of life; it is life itself."
